The Omega 1911 Project was conceived by an idea presented to Brother Antonio F. Knox, Sr., 40th Grand Basileus, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. by Brother Conrado B. Morgan when Brother Knox was the keynote speaker for Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter, Third District, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in November 2014. Brother Knox directed that the project be assigned to the Economic Development Committee chaired by Brother Sylvester Wilkins with direct guidance from Brother (Dr.) David Marion, First Vice Grand Basileus, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Brother Morgan suggested that Fifty percent (50%) of the funds be used to support the ongoing efforts of the Smithsonian Project for the National Museum of African American History and Culture, Twenty-five percent (25%) of the funds be used to support a community service project that educates African Americans on how to conduct themselves when stopped by law enforcement, and Twenty-five (25%) be used for university application/entrance test fees for African-American students to attend any university in the United States. The Omega 1911 Project donation to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is not tax deductible.
A gift of $19.11 receives a very nice certificate. Brother Conrado B. Morgan, 3rd District Keeper of Records and Seal designed the initial draft document. Brother Sylvester Wilkins reviewed and Brother Kenneth Barnes, Executive Director, submitted the draft version to International Headquarters. The IHQ Staff completed the certificate with approval and signature of Grand Basileus Tony Knox and Grand Keeper of Records and Seal, Brother Kenneth Rodgers. In addition to the certificate, brothers’ names are listed on a virtual wall on the Fraternity’s official website. A donation $191.10 entitles a Brother to a certificate, listing on the virtual wall on the Fraternity’s official website, and a commemorative lapel pin. The 1911 project contribution to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity is not tax deductible. Please donate at http://www.oppf.org/1911pro
